A Gregorian Mass is a traditional series of thirty consecutive Masses offered for a single intention, most commonly for the repose of the soul of a deceased loved one. This practice dates back to the sixth century and is connected to St. Gregory the Great, who encouraged the offering of thirty uninterrupted Masses as a special spiritual benefit for the faithful departed.
During a Gregorian Mass series, one Mass is celebrated each day for thirty consecutive days for the same person or intention. Because the Masses must be offered without interruption, availability is limited and scheduled in advance.
Many families request Gregorian Masses as a way to continue praying for a loved one after death, entrusting them to God’s mercy and expressing ongoing remembrance through the prayer of the Church.
Due to the nature of Gregorian Masses, only a limited number of intentions can be accepted each year.
